The original Lyceum was one of the world's first schools, founded by Aristotle in 335 BC. Previously, the Lyceum was a public meeting place in a grove of trees in Athens. The word Lyceum is associated with academic institutions throughout the world, including the "Lycée" in France which was established by Napoleon in 1802.
