Project Dandelion seeks to support and promote academics from the University of California at Berkeley and distribute their work to a broader audience through small and medium-sized print publications. Groundwork for the project has begun. The project is anticipated to begin in 2017.
February 16, 2014 - "Why are so many brilliant academics making themselves irrelevant" from an article in the New York Times about how academics are isolating themselves from the broader public.
Funding for Project Dandelion Project is dependent entirely upon community donations. The final number of sponsored academics will depend upon the amount raised. Each academic receives a $1,000 stipend. This small stipend acknowledges the time spent converting their research papers into a form acceptable for publication to the broader public. Donors providing enough funds for an entire stipend can chose which of the selected academic to fund. All donations are tax-deductible. Click here to donate now.
